The lighter side

In addition to my 'real' work, I have an avid interest in technical theatre, mainly lighting.

I have considerable experience in basic design, rigging and operation of both lighting and, to a lesser extent, sound in theatres and other performance venues mainly gained at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and local theatres.

I am currently acting as Technical Manager and LD/Op for Theatre École in Glasgow.

I also have an interest in, and some experience of, Stage Management and have assumed the role of an ASM/DSM on a number of occasions.

I have knowledge of both older, and more recent, control systems by Strand, ETC and Zero88 and am a competent followspot operator.

For the smaller productions, I have a small stock of lighting equipment, which can be borrowed (I don't think of myself as a hire company!) for minimal cost.

Sound

Whilst I am the first to admit my knowledge of sound is more limited, I have a number of good friends and collegues who work professionally within the industry who I point people in the direction of when sound gets more complex :)
