I'm not going start an entire series of EOS Macros posts (at least I don't intend to, I'll revise this statement when I post EOS Macros Tips #29 or something!) but a few people have commented on this set I use in every show I do, so maybe others would find them helpful.

My fixture groups always have sub groups as follows;

  • XX.1 – ODD
  • XX.2 – EVEN
  • XX.5 – Mirror Out
  • XX.6 – Mirror In
  • XX.9 – Random

These are created with a series of simple macros. You can't create them in a single macro due to a known limitation with Eos that nothing (other than another macro instruction) can follow a Label command;

The Macros are as follows (mine starts at 901 but you can use any)

Macro 901 - "Create Group Offsets"

Copy_To Group . 1 ♦
Copy_To Group . 2 ♦
Copy_To Group . 5 ♦
Copy_To Group . 6 ♦
Copy_To Group . 9 ♦
Group . 1 ♦
Chan Group . 1 Offset Odd ♦
Close_Offset_Display ♦
Group . 1 ♦
Label | ODD ♦
Macro_Button 902 ♦

Macro 902 - "GrOff: Even"

Group . 2 ♦
Chan Group . 2 Offset Even ♦
Close_Offset_Display ♦
Group . 2 ♦
Label | EVEN ♦
Macro_Button 903 ♦

Macro 903 - "GrOff: MirOut"

Group . 5 ♦
Chan Group . 3 Offset Mirror_Out ♦
Close_Offset_Display ♦
Group . 5 ♦
Label | mO <> ♦
Macro_Button 904 ♦

Macro 904 - "GrOff: MirIn"

Group . 6 ♦
Chan Group . 3 Offset Mirror_In ♦
Close_Offset_Display ♦
Group . 6 ♦
Label | mI >< ♦
Macro_Button 905 ♦

Macro 904 - "GrOff: Rand"

Group . 9 ♦
Chan Group . 3 Offset Random_Channels ♦
Close_Offset_Display ♦
Group . 9 ♦
Label | RND # ♦
Macro_Button 905 ♦

End result after selecting Group 101 in Blind and running Macro 900;

For me anyway, this is a massive timesaver.

In the interests of shamless self promotion it also works great with groups created by SelGrid ( http://rhlx.co.uk/selgrid ) 😉
